Buchler and Buchler is a family legacy. We have offered individuals, families and businesses in Metairie and throughout southeastern Louisiana with quality, timely and affordable legal services for decades.

Our law firm was founded in 1949, by Harold A. Buchler, Sr., and another lawyer, at its present location on Metairie Road at a time when the area was just developing. Mr. Buchler had several named partners throughout the early years of the firm, while doing much of the municipal bond work for Jefferson Parish and representing various financial institutions in the area. His two sons, Harold Jr. and Conrad, later followed in his footsteps by becoming lawyers and joining the firm in 1976 and 1981, respectively, focusing on real estate, estate planning and general civil practice.

From December 1, 1980 until the day of Mr. Buchler’s death in 2013, the firm had been a father and sons partnership known as Buchler and Buchler. In recent years, the firm has expanded and grown to include Harold Jr. and Conrad’s children and is now officially known as Buchler and Buchler, LLC. Katherine, Andrew and Conrad, Jr., are the next generation of Buchler lawyers who will carry the firm into the future and build on that legacy set by their grandfather of helping individuals, families and businesses in legal matters involving estate planning, successions, business formation, and real estate transactions.

The following are some of the ways we help our clients.

Estate Planning

We assist clients in creating estate plans that preserve assets and provide direction for health care using various legal tools, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills/health care directives, among others. We represent family members and representatives of deceased parties in administering wills and trusts and in postmortem planning. We also assist clients in meeting tax obligations on behalf of the estate, and provide representation to individuals and families in probate-related proceedings and disputes.

Probate (Succession) And Estate Administration

Depending on the nature and content of your estate plan, we can help you with the accompanying estate administration or succession duties. We can help you identify and carry out responsibilities, including distribution of the estate, management of estate assets, accountings of assets and liabilities, resolution of creditor claims, defense against beneficiary claims, real estate sales, passing on a family business after the death of the owner (business succession) and trust administration.

Real Estate

We provide guidance and representation to individual and business clients in residential and commercial leases, transactions, closings, foreclosures, and purchase and sales agreements. We also litigate all real estate matters, including disputes concerning purchase and sale contracts, title disputes and title insurance claims. Our attorneys are agents with First American Title and can perform title examinations to research property histories, and establish clear titles or identify encumbrances.

Business Formation

We represent businesses of all sizes and stages of growth with their legal needs, including writing articles of incorporation and other founding documents for limited liability corporations (LLCs), corporations and partnerships, as well as drafting and reviewing contracts, and in buying and selling assets.
